10/9/2009 - Student accepts Christ at Permian High!

 I just wanted to update you on our meeting this morning! We had one student give his life to Christ at Permian High School!  Manuel is a friend of Shae, Janae & Tenesia and he came because these three girls invited him!
 
Nate Moroles told his testimony of how he was a kid who responding to altar calls & would ask Jesus into his heart--but didn't really "get God" until He realized that it was all about following Jesus in everything you do.  It was a powerful message of "getting the gospel"  
-- and I encourage Youth Pastors on this list to invite Nate to share with your youth group what he shared with us.  God used Nate powerfully!
 
To be honest, we were a little bummed about the turnout this morning because of a conflict with the National Honor Society's meeting which was in our "normal" classroom.  Of course, many of our First Priority students are in NHS and couldn't do both meetings, so our numbers were way down.
 
As a result, Nate felt like he was "preaching to the choir" and  
decided not to have the "response cards" passed out after his prayer.   
But Janae  went ahead and passed out the response cards and had everyone fill them out.  That's when we found out that Manuel had accepted Christ!
 
So now we are learning the importance of following through on our plan, regardless of how "small" we think the response is.  We just don't know what God is up to sometimes until we "take a few steps in the river."
 
So thanks for your prayers & texts & voicemails--this is just the beginning!  bw
